Week 1

Read pages 1-3 in the beginning of the book. If you want, you can do the writing assessment on page 4 and 5.  It would be fun to see how much you improve by the end of the year! 

Week 2

Review the cursive letter guide on page 7.  Can you identify all the letters in their cursive form?  Now practice your first letter “A”, both upper case and lower case, by completing page 9. 

Week 3

Complete pages 10 and 11, practicing upper and lower case letters “B” and “C”

Week 4

Complete pages 12 and 13, practicing upper and lower case letters “D” and “E”

Week 5

Complete pages 14 and 15, practicing upper and lower case letters “F” and “G”

Week 6

Complete pages 16 and 17, practicing upper and lower case letters “H” and “I”

Week 7

Complete pages 18 and 19, practicing upper and lower case letters “J” and “K”

Complete page 50. Copy the excerpt of the Jungle Book using your best cursive writing.  If you need more paper, grab some loose leaf from your Tuttle Twins binder.

Complete page 51. Copy the excerpt of the Call of the Wild in your best cursive handwriting.  If you need more paper, grab some loose leaf from your Tuttle Twins binder.

Complete page 54. Copy the excerpt from the Velveteen Rabbit.  If you need more loose leaf paper, grab some from your Tuttle Twins binder.

Complete page 56.  Copy the tongue twisters into your best cursive. 

Week 32

Complete page 57. Create a pangram and copy it on the lines under “My Pangram”.  In the section labeled “Traded Pangram” copy, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”

Week 33

We will save page 58 for next week (creating our own Quill pen and signing your signature). 

This week, we will practice reading cursive by reading President Lincoln’s letter to Mrs. Bixby on page 59. Then complete page 60, answering questions (in cursive and complete sentences) about President Lincoln’s letter. 

Week 34

Time to practice that signature!  Turn to page 58 and read how to make a Quill pen.  Follow the instructions for making the pen then sign your name in the box at the bottom of page 58.  Congratulations!  You are done with Cursive writing!
